Sefardita, the name given to the descendants of Jews from the Iberian Peninsula in medieval times, intends to honor the Sephardic inhabitants of this old Jewish neighborhood and bring this historical heritage to the present day.
In the heart of the ancient Jewish quarter of Castelo de Vide, with direct view to the castle entry, in a romantic panorama that takes us back to medieval times, this accommodation results from the recovery of an old typical building. Can be checked the pre-existence of two doors in the main facade, which the wide one served as access to the ground floor shop and the narrow one to access the residence. From what we know, the last two habitants dedicated their commercial activity to the sale of salt and more recently to the production and sale of brooms and whitewash brushes.
During the rebuild of this building we had special attention to the maintenance and respect for the already existing objects and their envelopments, so we could conserve and recover the historic and architectonic values of the village. However, the rehabilitation of its interior had as principal preoccupation provide to the guests an experience of comfort, modernity and simplicity.
Starting from the lodging it’s suggested a walk through the narrow and ingenious streets letting ourselves be enchanted by the charm of its medieval memory. We significant set of portals of broken arch in granite stonework, the castle, the old synagogue and museum, the Fountain of the Village and the Center of the Village stand out.
The region is full of natural and cultural riches, so it is recommended to go explore the São Mamede Mountain and the archaeological and megalithic treasures that exist around the village.
